On March 17, 1917, five women at New York University Law School took a pledge of sisterhood and loyalty and so founded the Alpha Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon, one of the first non-sectarian, social sororities and the only one founded at a professional school. Five years later on March 17, 1922, Delta Phi Epsilon was formally incorporated under laws of the State of New York.
On December 5, 1922, stretching out to international boundaries, the first Canadian chapter was installed at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. Growth has been steady, but expansion in numbers has never been favored over strengthening within. From this small group making up the first chapter, there are now more than 55,000 members with chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Our chapters, both undergraduate and alumnae, enjoy a distinguished reputation for scholarship, service, and leadership.
On December 15, 1991, the Alpha Psi chapter was chartered into the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority. Here at Lawrence Technological University, we are the only international NPC sorority on campus. We strive to uphold the dedication, pride, and excellence that our founding sisters laid out for us. Each year, we support both the international philanthropies and our own through events and fundraising.
Delta Phi Epsilon develops a social consciousness and a commitment to think and act for the greater good. We assure continuous development and achievement for women by embracing our founding principles of Justice, Sisterhood, and Love. Delta Phi Epsilon also strives to excell in five areas known as our 5 S's: Self, Sisterhood, Social, Service, Scholarship.
Delta Phi Epsilon supports three philanthropies through various events and service projects each year:
For two years running, the Alpha Psi chapter has reached 5 star status: A rating given by internationals every year, evaluates the chapters annual success. The Alpha Psi chapter is very proud of its accomplishment and hopes to maintain our 5 star chapter status.
